Molecular Virology and Vaccine Production is a comprehensive textbook that provides a structured understanding of viruses at molecular, cellular, and applied levels, with special emphasis on animal health and vaccine biotechnology. It begins with the fundamentals of virology, including virus history, structure, genome organization, classification, and the molecular basis of replication and gene expression. The book then explores virus cultivation techniques using laboratory animals, embryonated eggs, cell cultures, and advanced systems such as organoids, stem-cell platforms, and bioreactors. It also covers viral detection and quantification methods like plaque assays, TCID50, hemagglutination, PCR, RT-PCR, and other molecular diagnostics. Key topics include virus-induced oncogenesis, virus–host interactions, immune responses, interferons, cytokines, and biosafety principles. A major focus is vaccinology, detailing vaccine development, production, inactivation, attenuation, formulation, and quality control. It further introduces modern vaccine technologies such as recombinant, subunit, DNA, edible, and nanotechnology-based vaccines. The book concludes with vaccine evaluation, sero-surveillance, and regulatory frameworks for effective disease control.
