The book provides a comprehensive understanding of biodiversity, its distribution, conservation strategies, and sustainable utilization in the context of environmental management and ecological sustainability. The book introduces the fundamental concepts of biodiversity, bioresources, wildlife management, and biogeographical regions, highlighting their importance in maintaining ecological balance and supporting human livelihoods.
The text systematically explains in situ and ex situ conservation approaches, germplasm conservation, biodiversity hotspots, wildlife conservation projects, and the role of national and international organizations in protecting biological diversity. It also discusses major threats to biodiversity, endangered species, extinction risks, Red Data Book categories, and environmental legislation related to conservation and biosafety.
Special emphasis is given to sustainable development, agro-biodiversity, indigenous livestock diversity, environmental impact assessment, bioremediation, and integrated conservation approaches involving community participation. Designed for students, researchers, environmentalists, and policymakers, this book serves as a valuable resource for understanding biodiversity conservation and sustainable ecosystem management in the modern era.
