About Book

Bio-resources and Agricultural Waste Management provides a comprehensive understanding of the generation, characterization, utilization, and sustainable management of agricultural and livestock waste. The book introduces the concepts of bio-resources, agricultural biomass, crop residues, animal waste, and agro-industrial by-products, highlighting their importance in sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.

The text systematically explains the principles of waste management, the 4R’s approach (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover), environmental impacts of agricultural waste, and strategies for in-situ residue management. It also covers biological treatment methods such as composting, vermicomposting, microbial decomposition, and bio-conversion technologies for efficient waste utilization. Special emphasis is given to biogas production technology, operation and management of biogas plants, utilization of slurry as organic manure, and waste-to-energy approaches.

The book further discusses waste disposal techniques, farm waste management machinery, indigenous technical knowledge, environmental benefits, government initiatives, and sustainable future strategies. Designed for students, researchers, extension professionals, and practitioners, this book serves as a valuable resource for sustainable bio-resource management and circular agricultural systems.
